regret

A new year is coming up
and you might think about what has happened
which may make you regret things

Regret is okay as long as it doesn't eat you up
doesn't smash the cup of happiness
doesn't glue you to the spot of indecission

Regret is good
when you make amends
when it makes you think
when it changes your ways for the better

So i try to learn from the passing year
try and remember the cheers that once was
and to view the positive in all things

Life is brief so make it worthwhile
make people think positively

Life is cool without rose coloured glasses
life is great without nit picking the petty
life is precious

so help each other
and as is said in a book i know of
'do unto others as you would have done unto you'
or as H.H. says, 'if you can't help at least do not harm.'

Regret is okay
it tells you lots
it shows that you really do care
and gives you the two opportunities
1 to fix
and the other to grow

Impermanence

a snowflake gliding upon its path towards the earth
a tear drop sliding across a lone persons face
the thunderous applause at a stadium concert
the echoing claps of thunder in a cave
a may fly

the cry of a baby just born
the bleat of a lamb cut while being shorn
the run, thrust, charge of a goats horn
wrapping paper as it's being torn
a new dawn

dust drifting and gathering on little circles of bold
the eroding effects of mold
the shiny glimmer of gold
what was once bought and now being sold
everything getting old

sickness, health, eye sight, strength
hair, looks, teeth, hearing
walking, standing, running, striding
or just all of the above
and much much more...

people

short, tall, fat small
happy, grumpy, sneezy, bashful
dopey, sleepy, peaceful and stoned
are people
people are wise, sensitive and kind
people are thoughtful, intuitive and blind
people are insane, disturbed and just fucked up
arguing, screaming, protesting
stealing, self cherishing, abusing
dumb, thoughtless, unmindful
evil toe rag bastards
yep people
you hope for the best
but i still put on my bullet proof vest
i still look both ways before and after i have looked both ways
people
given a chance and you have a prosthetic arm
or a hook
people happy when they have you to do their bidding
but joyous to see the back of you
happily not all people are the same
yet it is up to you
treat all people well and live moral
if people treat you bad that is them
never go down there
remember you are people too
so be a person; that's a single people
who is moral, ethical and thoughtful
be the people who are kind, compassionate and happy
all the other people who are not that
they aren't to blame
they are still learning
people

blowup

scape goats
loose lips
blaming
stupidity
gossip
media
social networks
don't look at issues
they look for easy answers
they look for ratings
everything is about ratings
all are looking at fame
all want their 15 minutes
and make that 15 minutes longer
backlashes
towns folk in a raging mob on the nett
small stuff blown up for reaction
the real not examined
stupidity
what's the story
what's the issue
pranking to amp up
joking for reaction
silliness is king
there's more to life than this
take time and smell the roses
there are more things out there of import
immolating monks and nuns
middle eastern people dying
children homeless and abused
women afraid to walk at night
people afraid of their neighbours

you shall not pass

when negativity leads the way
when your own rainclouds lash you
you shall not see the fog for the trees

you can not pass
if you do not question
if you leave pages unturned
if you frown more than you smile
and most of all if you take all given unquestioned

you will not pass
when you give up on yourself
when you let others live your life
when you walk eternally in a self made fog

my words are
step lightly but with compassion
walk tall yet bow in respect
speak softly so your words do not bruise
see with clear eyes that search but does not tear

always ask
always think
gather knowledge
and test it true

Paitence

You need it in pounds
You need it in heaps and heaps
You need it in mounds
faith

You need to find your way
You need to smile when you play
You need to see beyond the grey
strength

You should find it in your breath
You should find it in your pulse
You should find it in your smile
peace

You will find it when you don't look
you will find it in the book you don't read
You will find it on the coffee stained coaster
emptiness

You need it when they yell
You need it when you see red
You smile as it comes flooding in
paitence

amazement

i read stuff on facebook
and think, i don't get it
there are jokes on there
there are images of good looking women and men
images of cats, kittens, birds and fish
people saying they are going to bed
or just having something to eat
or telling you, you must go here
you must get this
you must get that
but i just hear white noise
I hear the continuous discourse of static
people telling you how you should look
whether it is in text or imagery
People giving their opinions about
the weather politically situations
humanitarian issues
or their local football team
people trying to fix the world from the comfort of their armchairs
but not leaving the house
not even know where the place they talk about is on the globe
it all amazes me
it all confuses me
then i see something that makes me think
I hear people complain and I think of Stephen Hawking'
Amazement
I see people if far off countries where human rights is a myth, yet they continue their struggle
Amazement
I watch a TV show with Reggie Bibbs in it
Amazement

sometimes

sometimes, life is holding your breath
you go blue, you shiver but it's the only way to get through
sometimes life is like a bell
it rings strong and true
yet other times it's cracked and the clanger keeps knocking you down
Sometimes there is now one there and you are standing in the middle of rush hour
sometimes people sound nice but they want their pound of flesh
sometimes it's crushing
sometimes it's never silent enough
sometimes everyone speakes in tongues
it is all too loud
all too fast
all too furious
the games are too violent
the chatter is void and echoing
the madness is like a warm hug
sometimes it takes a leap to get through
a jump to change the weather in your head
sometimes i think of leaving through the back door
down the alley
up the tree
across the stars
sometimes i wonder where is my blue box
with it's flashing light
and it's roar like bedlam
sometimes it is like my head is in the washing machine
getting bashed by the socks
filled with the tissues that should have been taken out
sometimes the news is white noise
sometimes i wonder whatever happened to my toys
that i use to play with for hours
sometimes i wonder what next?

sides and fences

pick a side
compete for a team
choose who your with
win at all costs

argue a point without ears
ignore all factors
put others down
and don't count the cost

take no prisoners
push all those off the fence
scream your side and burn the others
the cost is always worth it

Or D the above is all wrong
Don't compete, help
why choose when everybody is the same
always see all sides and don't choose any
you are no more important than the others
always help where you can
and don't cause harm

we're all the same
we all deserve compassion
we all deserve love

what we have

it's interesting to think about what we have.
we have a stable government, that we can openly complain about
we have a hospitals and doctors that are accessible
we have freedoms of speech
freedoms of protest
freedoms of religious choice
we have freedom to complain
we can watch tv
search the internet
go to rallies
buy things over the internett
write letters and send emails with a certain amount of security
we have privacy
we have the ability to forget the freedoms we have
we can be blase about our freedoms
yet, if you thought about other places in the world
where people do not have contact with the media
the media is government controlled
where you are visited in your home any time by authorities
where you can only get into hospital if you have lots of money
where the police are a luxury or worse than the criminal elliment
where religion is not a choice and choice is a mythical word
where to complain comes with a permanent holiday with a very small room
where you do not write anything down
and emails must be in code
and to go to rallies means to have your picture taken and put on a black list
then you realise what we have
unlike many countries around the world
we have choice
that's what we have

choices

things that are optional
this means that you don't have to do them
you can do them or you can decide not to
yet people see choices as liberty
you can take the liberty to play really loud music
you can take the choice to play loud music really late

a choice is something you can do

I choose not to have choices
I choose not to get angry
For me anger is like pouring petrol on a fire
you get burnt and so do others

I choose not to kill bugs, insects, flies, mosquitoes
They do want they do not from choice
they do not have choice

I am glad that I have choices
there ae plenty that don't

People who live under brutal regimes
People who do not have the choice of free speech
people who do not have the choice of religion
people who do not have the choice of having their love recognised

Choices are valuable
even when you decide not to have the choice
that's an option

we should all let other have choices
and let our compassion grow

remember

all war is anger
all wars are first wars
there will be more
until it is seen that war,
hatred
violence
lead nowhere
use compassion
use kindness and understanding
dissolve the anger
do not feed the hatred
so that war blooms
remember that if we all work together
with compassion and kindness and love
the hope will blossom
and anger will fade away

broken china

the tanks are stalking
the army is walking
freedom goes silent
thuggery is spent
thuggery is sprayed like a jet on water
mother, father, son, daughter
live in fear
live in opression
live in stagnant death

Peaceful people at the edge
peaceful people blazing brightly in protest
burning people pushed to the last
all of this goes deep into the past

What are we doing?
where are we going?
What are we knowing?

It's time to see
that it is up to you
it is up to me

Lend your voice
so that these people can again have a choice

silence

silence is hard to find
there is always chatter going on
yet it is mainly empty
there is always white noise playing through the air
silence is very hard to find
even when you are in the deepest darkest cave
you will hear the drip of a staligmite or staligtite
both of them as they are forming
silence is very rare
silence of sound
silence of motion
silence of thought

People

People a strange
and they continue to get stranger and stranger
People are odd
I don't understand them
they are told rules and regulations
and then break them yet say I didn't know that
people are riddles and some should never be thought about
I don't understand them
I believe that we should treat each other with kindness and compassion
I believe that we should show care and understanding
Yet I don't understand people
but will always try to do what I believe

What?

what do we do?
when others are trodden down.
when others are bullied
when other are silenced
what do we do
when we only have censored information
when the people with the biggest clout stand over us
when freedom and rights are just slogans in movies
What do we do
When people believe in the bullets bark
when people cheer on the pre-emptive stike
when people disassociate from the number count that are people

I don't know

sometimes

sometimes going down hill looks harder than going up
sometimes it feels easier to smash your cup
than wash it up
but easy is never fun
so you better run boy run
sometimes it is slow going when you want it fast
sometimes you're better finishing last
or being safely tied to the mast
and you think it was never meant to be this way
why didn't they tell me how the land lay
and then sometimes there just aren't any words...
